Blue flag
Playa de Muro, Spain
Spain boasts the largest number of quality beaches in Europe – 579 were marked with the “Blue Flag”. One of them, the six-kilometer-long Muro Beach, is a quiet and well-equipped place surrounded by white sand dunes. The beach is located north of Alcudia and is recognized as one of the best in Mallorca. It is safe for children and has a smooth entrance to the shallow water.

Beach Gatsø (Plage de Gatseau), France
Gatso Beach is located in a picturesque bay two kilometers from the city of Saint-Trojan and is surrounded by a pine forest. Gatso is almost wild, so it is the best choice for lovers of unusual routes and summer outdoor activities.

San Vincenzo, Italy
342 beaches in Italy were renamed in 2017, including the popular Tuscan resort of San Vincenzo on the shores of the Ligurian Sea. The place is loved for a calm, clean, shallow sea, so the coast is suitable for family holidays. Nearby is an amusement park, many bars, clubs and viewing platforms. The local landmark is the tower of San Vincenzo, built in the XIV century to protect the city from pirates.

Botany Bay Beach (Botany Bay), United Kingdom
The sandy beach of Botany Bay near the northernmost of the seven bays of Kent is a godsend for lovers of photography and a quiet holiday. According to legend, smugglers were once deported from here to Australia. The beach is protected by white chalk cliffs. In addition to the seasonal presence of lifeguards, there is a first-aid station near the beach. From May 1 to September 30 it is forbidden to come here with pets.

Moesgård Strand, Denmark
In Denmark, a northern country with a short summer, the “Blue Flag” awarded more than three hundred beaches. South of Århus, surrounded by forests and hills, is Mussgor Beach, popular in summer. Here you can relax from morning to evening: there are shops, places for barbecue, lawns and sports facilities and other entertainment nearby. Every summer, the local museum holds a “Viking congregation” on the beach (a campground with a market and tournaments), and there is also a deer park nearby.

Blue Lagoon beach, Iceland
On the peninsula of Reykkjanes there is one of the most interesting beaches in this rating – the Blue Lagoon beach with geothermal pools, in which the water temperature does not fall below 37 degrees, regardless of the weather and the season. The water of gentle blue color has a unique healing composition, so many people come here not only to relax and admire nature, but also at the spa-procedures for rejuvenation.

Beach Nikolina (Nikolina Beach), Croatia
In Croatia, in 2017, the Blue Flag received 99 beaches, including the pebble beach of Nikolina with cool water, coniferous trees, which provide natural shade in the hot weather. The beach is very popular with both tourists and locals. Although the descent to the water in some places is sharp, the beach is considered to be well-equipped for families with children.

Marinha Beach (Praia de Praia da Marinha), Portugal
In the top ten are Portugal and its 320 beaches marked with the “Blue Flag”. 88 of the rankings are located among the highest cliffs in the southernmost region of the Algarve. Among them is a white sandy area at the rocky foot, is considered the best place in the region for scuba diving (in particular snorkeling). From the beach there are boats with excursions to the caves.

De Necker (Belgium)
By the lake De Necker there is a sandy beach of the same name – a safe point for recreation and sports, as well as a popular place for diving. Nearby there are several playgrounds for active recreation: tennis court, football field and a whole sports center. Plus beach parking is free.
